East Markham Non-Profit Homes

East Markham Non-Profit Homes (EMNPH) is a non-profit housing corporation in Markham. It is sponsored by the Markham Interchurch Committee for Affordable Housing (MICAH) and made possible by funding from the Canada-Ontario Affordable Housing Program (AHP), the Region of York, the Town of Markham and member churches. EMNPH is run by a volunteer Board of Directors with members from the community of MICAH affiliated churches.

The project, named to honour the late Regional Councillor, Tony Wong, a strong advocate for affordable housing, provides 120 safe, affordable housing units for individuals, families and seniors who are living with lower incomes. There are 56 one bedroom, 26 two, 26 three and 12 four bedroom apartments. Twelve units are designed to meet the needs of persons with physical disabilities. All are non-smoking units.

The building will have many state of the art energy efficient features including:

Geothermal heating and cooling
Insulated concrete form construction
Roof insulation rating of R50
Low E Argon windows
LED and CFL lighting, motion-sensor lighting
Dual flush toilets and low flow faucet heads

Other features include: secure childrenĄ¯s playground, community room and kitchen, lockers and laundry facilities on each floor, above and below ground parking.

Located at Deverill Court in the northwest section of Kennedy Road and 14th Avenue, the complex is now open.
